My Opinion: - The one loose powder I had been using and became addicted to is the Lakme Rose Powder With Sunscreen. Its dirt cheap and can give any high end brand loose powders a run for their money. But mom gave this and the Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation to me last winter and I kept away my fave Lakme Rose Powder to try this one out. Since then I have been reaching out for this loose powder more often than the Lakme one. Since I have been using it for many months now, I think it’s the right time to come up with its review.

This loose powder from Avon comes in a black box, the packaging it nothing innovative with a see through plastic tub and black plastic screw-on lid. On opening the black main lid, a sifter can be seen, that’s too obvious for a loose powder packaging. It was sealed with thin cellophane and on removing it; the powder could be taken out. It’s a little difficult to dispense the powder through the sifter, very little comes out so it needs to be repeated. That’s time consuming and a little frustrating when you are in a hurry. This loose powder has no fragrance at all, unlike the Lakme one which smells of fresh roses.

I prefer using my loose powders with a kabuki/powder brush. But my mom suggested I use this powder in a ‘dab and spread’ manner. Of course this powder comes with a good quality puff/applicator which is apt for applying it evenly on the face. I use this loose powder over my foundation to give additional coverage and even out my skin. Sometimes I use it over my regular day cream to keep my skin shine free and matte. The claim of matte & shiny finish is very true, it worked on my oily t zone in the winters and now when the hot days are here, and my skin is getting oilier again, it’s working great for me.

This powder lasts upto 6-7 hours without a single touch up, so I can say the silky satiny look is on my face whole day sans the oil. It does not emphasize the pores on my skin and also it does not cakes up or oxidises on my skin. It is perfect for setting concealers and does not look unnatural and made up. It is not drying like some loose powders are. But I suggest proper blending for a naturally flawless look. It’s very light weight and blends easily on the skin, will last me for about 4-5 more months of regular use (using it since last 6 months or so).

BLENDED (NATURAL LIGHT)

Pros: -

  • Claims of matte look and shine free is very true
  • Does not look cakey, unnatural
  • Smooth satiny finish
  • Does not oxidize on my oily skin
  • Keeps skin oil-free for 5-7 hours depending on the environment you are in, in an air-conditioned environment this powder keeps me looking fresh for 6-7 hours
  • Regular use of 10/11 months will be needed to finish off this tub of 18 gms, atleast I think so
  • Gives light coverage, so can be used over day cream/lotion
BLENDED (FLASH)

Cons: -

  • Dispensing the loose powder through the sifter is a problem (most loose powder packaging has this same problem)
  • Contains Paraben & Urea

I rate this Avon Ideal Shade Loose Powder 4.5 out of 5. I recommend this to all girls who love to wear loose powder over foundation/day cream. It’s one of those great products from Avon which I shall use time and again. Simply loving it but not more than my Lakme Rose Powder :P

Hope you girls enjoyed reading this review; do let us know about your experiences with this product if any. Thank you and do have a happy Monday.

Available in 3 shades:
  •    Nude
  •    Pure Beige
  •    Soft Honey

My Opinion: - I have been a fan of Revlon Foundations since long. Though I used a number of other foundations from varied brands, none of them was very impressive on the coverage front. Last winter when mom gave me Avon Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation in the shade Pure Beige, which suited my skin tone very well, I was more than happy as I was planning to get it from my Avon Rep. I started applying it immediately and it left me happy enough. So last month I purchase my second bottle of this foundation, but this time in another shade- Soft Honey to match my summer skin tone. Today I am putting forward my views on this particular shade, though the formulation of every shade has to be the same.

The packaging of this product is very basic (read boring), squarish see through bottle with a squarish black plastic lid. The bottle, I can say is very sturdy because I dropped it many times on tiled/marble floors and got away with it. The consistency is between cream and lotion, I prefer calling it thick but not heavy. It is very light weight and I don’t feel that I am wearing a foundation. This foundation comes with SPF 10 which is an added advantage, don’t have to slather on an additional Sunscreen which saves time.

I usually apply it with a sponge, but at times I prefer to use a brush. Its blends like a dream and I don’t have to work hard on it. The coverage is buildable, light to medium, I can say. I don’t need to apply a concealer for minor flaws and my now-barely-there dark circles. Also it hides light ance marks and covers up my pores. But for the girls, who are used to heavy coverage, might not like this foundation. I can use this foundation around my eyes without problem, my eyes are very sensitive and not all foundations suit the area around my eyes.
With Flash

I have oily skin which turns to combination during the severe winters. This foundation has given me a satiny matte finish and is truly oil-free as claimed by the company. I am on my second bottle right now and I haven’t broken out because of it, also this product did not clog my pores as claimed by the company. The fragrance is extremely mild or maybe my nose is not sensitive enough to pick it up. But I have heard lots and lots of people complaining about some chemical smell. The staying power is moderate; stays on for the entire day with a little fading here and there but this can be fixed by using a primer underneath the foundation. Also a dusting of translucent powder fixes the oily t zone, blushers don’t cake over it and I don’t sweat around the mouth and nose after applying this foundation.

Pros: -
Swatched in natural light

  • Didn’t break me out
  • Non- Oily, Non-Comedogenic
  • Gives a lovely satiny matte look
  • Contains SPF 10, I use it at night also
  • Stays on for 5 hours without touch ups but using a primer beneath it increases its lasting power
  • Just a small blob is required for each application, so for me it went on for around about 3 months with regular application
  • Affordable, since it goes on for 3 months
  • Also it’s mostly on sale, so you need to keep it checking

Cons: -
Blended (in natural light)

  • It’s a little creamy hence I doubt its performance on my skin in the summers
  • Only 3 shades available
  • Light to medium coverage (buildable)
  • Not sweat proof
  • Oxidises a little on oily skin
  • Contains Parabens

I rate Avon Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation 4 out of 5 (-1 for all the cons, specially the nasty chemicals). I recommend this product to all foundation lovers with dry, normal & combination skin as I doubt its performance on oily skin in the summers. Also girls requiring heavy coverage stay away from this. Right now I am enjoying it, still waiting to see what happens in the peak of summers.

Hope you girls enjoyed reading this review; do share your experiences with us if any with this particular foundation. Thank you and do have a great day ahead :)

BEAUTY PROPERTIES OF CORNMEAL

There are a variety of soaps available in the market today. Each claiming to be better than the other, through advertisements screaming from newspapers, magazines, TV etc. Shelves at stores are lined with different types of soaps, each more appealing than the other and claiming to produce a smooth and soft petal like complexion if used. But in older days women did not use soap on their face but they preferred using granulated cornmeal.

Granulated cornmeal is one of the most valuable skin cleansers. It never fails to cleanse the skin and stimulate its circulation. It removes all the surface dirt and waste matter and accelerates the circulation. When having a bath, generously sprinkle cornmeal on the face and body and then wash off with soap and water. When using cornmeal for the first few times, avoid vigorous rubbing, as the skin has to get accustomed to it. This cornmeal bath puts the skin in a splendid condition and gives it a fresh tone and firmness.

Every morning when washing the face, sprinkle a little cornmeal on a wet wash cloth and gently rub the face. This stimulates the pores, the nerves, muscles and increases circulation. It tends to increase the activity of the pores and enables them to eliminate the impurities and blackheads. Pimples too will lessen with each treatment. Cornmeal as a treatment for oily skin is marvelous.

If the skin is dry, put a few drops of coconut oil on the wash cloth and sprinkle the cornmeal on it. Then apply this to the face. It will soften the skin and the oil will be absorbed to a limited degree.

Another valuable use of cornmeal is to give the hands a friction bath. When washing the hands, put some of the cornmeal in your wet and soapy palms and rub them well. This will remove any stains. If hands are dry, put a few drops of olive oil in the palms and sprinkle the cornmeal and rub well. This will soften the hands.

Cornmeal is very beneficial as a dry shampoo and should be used once a week. To use as a shampoo, part the hair in various places, then sprinkle the cornmeal on the scalp and apply generously on the hair, spreading the hair out so the cornmeal remains on the scalp for 4-5 mins. Now rub the scalp until it feels all aglow, then take a small Turkish towel and rub the hair vigorously, then remove the cornmeal by thoroughly brushing the hair. After the cornmeal is removed, press the bristles of the brush on the scalp, push back and forth from side to side. Do not leave the brush but keep it pressed to the scalp. When done rightly the hair will not tangle. This treatment loosens the dead skin and dried oils and keeps the scalp clean and is excellent for hair.

NATURE’S ESSENCE LACTO TAN CLEAR- REVIEW

Remedy for Sun Tan Removal
With Milk & Honey

40 gms for INR 75

Company Says: - Milk proteins & honey enriched special tan cream helps remove the epidermal sun tan, thereby restoring the natural fairness of the skin & also preventing pigmentation due to harmful sun. Its matt effect is ideal for hot climates and the cream also helps enhance after facial glow.

Usage: - Apply layer on the face/skin and keep it on for 10-15 mins & after soft massage remove with water.
Advised to be used everyday to restore natural color & glow of the skin.

Key Ingredients: - Milk, Bees Wax and Geranium Oil

My Opinion: - Just an hour ago I had applied this tan remover on my face, arms & feet. I have been using this since last year after the SA at the Nature’s Essence counter convinced me that my arms are tanned. Since then I have got into the habit of using this atleast once in a week or at the most once in 10 days. This product comes boxed in a bright yellow & green carton with a red & silver twisted leaf. The white plastic tub looks cheap as well as boring; it has a transparent thick plastic protective lid inside which can be seen once the main lid is unscrewed. I find it a bit difficult to remove the inner lid as it is too tight for my comfort; I got long nails as you all know, so I have to remove it with scissors/nail file etc.

The texture of this tan remover is that of a thick cream but it easily gets spread on my skin. There is no stinging sensation or irritation whatsoever when I use this on my face & neck. I want to compare the look of this tan remover with Pond’s White Beauty Daily Spot-less Lightening Cream, though this one is off white and the Pond’s one is a pale pink. The fragrance is floral but it’s not very prominent and I personally don’t have a liking towards it.

I use it like a pack on my face, neck, nape, arms and feet; wait for 15 mins and massage for sometimes before wash it wash off plain water. This product dries out my skin a tad bit in the winters only but rest of the year its nearly ok. I usually moisturise my skin immediately after washing off. Never broke out because of this tan remover, I have been using this since long. Didn’t even get any irritation or burning sensation, neither any redness on my skin. It removes tan successfully to quite an extent, but not completely. With regular usage though, its gives a bright and even skin tone. I can’t say a word about the pigmentation claim as I don’t face it. Rest of the claims are true but I seriously doubt that milk, honey, geranium oil and bees wax can give tan removing quality to any product. There must be the involvement of some chemicals that Nature’s Essence has kept secret.

Pro: -

  • Removes tan as claimed
  • Does not harm my skin in any way
  • Long time usage has also not harmed my skin
  • No burning sensation like bleach
  • No irritation, no redness seen after usage

Cons: -

  • I suspect involvement of chemicals though the company did not list it

I rate this Nature’s Essence Lacto Tan Clear 4.5 out of 5. It’s a very effective product to remove as well as clear tan. Must try for all girls with tanning issues. But do not forget to moisturize after each application.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading the review, do tell us your experiences if any with this product. Thank you and do have a great day.

*Contains moisturisers from Natural Source

Shelf Life is 2 years

My Opinion: - All of us know the need of body lotions in the cold dry months, and it was in February that I received Parachute Advansed Body Lotions- Dry Skin Intense Care & All Season Gentle Care. Immediately I started using the Dry Skin Intense Care Lotion as my limbs turn very dry in the winters. And upon the very first application, I was so happy as my skin absorbed the lotion and looked so normal :P No I am not kidding, really it made that much of a difference. So in short if I have to review this lotion, it is amazing :D

This white body lotion is thick in consistency, somewhere in between a cream and a lotion. It’s very creamy but not greasy at all. It gives heavy moisturization but feels light on the skin. But the fragrance is not up to my liking, it is herbal scented but nothing like coconut or coconut oil. Girls with sensitive noses stay away or take a whiff before investing in this lotion. The packaging is unique and so beautiful, the mint colored bottle looks like the torso of a curvaceous woman. It comes with a flip open lid which clicks shuts tight; hence it’s perfect for traveling.

I had applied this lotion twice daily from the day I received it in Feb till a few days back when I finished it. It made my skin soft and smooth; also this lotion gave relief from dryness to quite an extent. It moisturized my skin well and gave my arms & legs and my full body much needed nourishment. A few pumps are all that is needed to apply all over arms, legs & body. It gets absorbed very quickly and spreads easily, which saves time for rubbing/massaging the lotion into the skin. This lotion is not greasy and sticky and that’s the reason I loved it so much. The only problem I had with this lotion is that it does not contain SPF, so I have to slather on an additional sunscreen. Also it needs to be reapplied every 3 hours in my case.

Pros: -

  • Spreads easily & gets absorbed quickly, so I don’t have to waste 10-15 mins
  • Highly moisturizing, cared well for my dry legs & arms
  • A little goes a long way as not much product is required for each use
  • Very affordable at Rs 99 for 250 ml
  • Interesting packaging, bottle shape is similar to the torso of a woman and its travel friendly as well
  • Non-sticky & non-greasy

Cons:-

  • Fragrance is not good, I personally didn’t like it
  • Does not contain SPF
  • Contains Parabens and Carbomer
  • Don’t think it will work on very dry, parched & flaky skin

I rate this Parachute Advansed Body Lotion for Dry Skin 4.25 out of 5, minus 0.75 for the cons. It’s a must buy for people with dry winter skin, I shall buy another one in the next winters but for now my limbs have turned normal with the advent of summer, so I am using Parachute Advansed Body Lotion for All Season since 10-15 days or more. Shall come up with the review very soon. Till then hope you enjoyed reading this post and leave behind your lovely comments. Thank you and do have a good day ahead.
