LOTUS HERBALS SAFE SUN COLLAGENSHIELD SUNBLOCK SPF 90/PA+++ - REVIEW

Hydrolysed Soy Protein & Aloe Vera Extract
Preservative-free, Ultra- Protection
All Skin Types

50 gms for INR 595

Company Says: - A revolutionary, Preservative-free, light-weight formulation containing potent herbal extracts which protects Collagen in the skin*. UVA rays penetrate deep into skin and damage Collagen, resulting in wrinkles. Once Collagen is damaged it cannot re-built itself. In fact up to 80% of skin ageing is caused by the sun.
Hydrolysed Soy Protein holds Collagen together in a firm and smooth way & helps combat sun-induced free-radical damage that can accelerate the signs of skin ageing. The Aloe Vera extract hydrates and replenishes skin and also protects from other sun induced damages. The easy to blend texture gives a non-sticky & clean feel.

Soy Protein: Hold Collagen together in a firm & smooth way

Aloe Vera: Protects from sun-induced damages, hydrates & replenishes skin

Double Protection
UVA+UVB
Research into skin damage by UV rays shows that:
UVA Rays damage collagen, resulting in wrinkles. In fact upto 80% of skin ageing is caused by the skin.
UVB Rays cause Sun burns, skin cancer etc.

Directions: - Apply Safe Sun Collagenshield Sunblock liberally & evenly on face & exposed parts (body, neck, arms, legs etc) before exposure to sun.

Advice: - Use daily to protect collagen in the skin. *Reapply frequently for Sun-Sensitive skin, apply every 4 hours to all exposed parts of body.

Preservative Free: - Collagenshield Sunblock is free from harmfull preservatives like Parabens, which may cause health problems like breast cancer.

Ingredients: - Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Mthoxydibenzoylmethane, Benzophenone-3, Phospholipids, Butylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Light Liquid Paraffin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutylene, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Glycerin, PEG-30, Dipolyhydroxystearate, Octyl Hydroxy Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Hydrolysed Soy Protein, Camellia Sinesis (Green Tea) Extract, Aloe Barbedensis (Aloe Vera) Extract, Cyclopentasiloxane, Magnesium Sulphate, Caprylhydroxamic Acid (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Glycerin, Essential Oil Blend.

My Opinion: - I don’t know much about sunscreens except the fact that Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is the ability to screen or block out the sun’s burning/damaging rays. SPF indicates UVB protection whereas PA indicates UVA protection and ranges from +(least) to +++ (most). When Lotus Herbals sent me this product, I was happy to see SPF 90 and PA+++ as I think it will give me maximum protection against sun rays. This sunscreen comes boxed in a shiny orange small box. The plastic tube is similar orange in color, has a flip open top which is travel friendly and also can be thrown into a purse without fearing about mess.

This sunscreen comes with a tint and looks like a liquid foundation for dark skin. the consistency is thick lotion-like and the texture is soft creamy. The fragrance is very pleasant floral which most girls would like I think, it fades after 10-15 mins of application since its mild enough. I use a sunscreen daily even if I stay indoors, actually I have not much exposure to the sun but I make it sure to use a sunscreen religiously every morning. Since this sunscreen is tinted, I don't use a foundation on top as it gives some amount of coverage and a matte glow which I love. It gets absorbed into my skin in no time and that too without much rubbing and massaging.

This sunscreen contains some very impressive ingredients like Aloe Vera, Soy Protien, Green Tea, Essential Oils etc which are awesome for the health of the skin. Collagenshield will prevent ageing and Aloe Vera and other ingredients will hydrate and replenish the skin. PA+++ will give maximum protection against UVA rays and SPF 90 will give maximum protection against UVB rays. This sunscreen/block gives a matte look to my skin and its not heavy or greasy in any way. Ofcourse I dust my T-zone with a loose powder which keeps oil at bay for quite sometimes. This product does not give the whitish cast which most sunscreens gives and photographs well and also it does not melt with sweat.

The company says that this product is for all skin types but I don’t think it will suit very dry skin. As for me I have very oily skin which acne prone and I have applied it over my pimples successfully without any irritation or problem. This product doesn’t break me out and also it doesn’t irritates my skin. I cant see any tanning, so I think it has been working well for me. But one big drawback is that the tube contains 50 gms and costs a whooping Rs 595 and I need quite a lot of product throughout the day since reapplication every 4 hours is a must. So its pricey, and rest I told you’ll I don’t know much about sunscreens :P ;)

Pros: -

* Very impressive ingredient list, contains Essential Oils, Aloe Vera, Soy Protiens, Green Tea etc

*The phrase “Collagenshield” is very satisfying and attractive

*Preservatives free (No Parabens)

*Doesn’t break me out or irritate my skin or cause rashes

*Gentle on my pimple-prone skin

*No white cast, photographs well, doesn’t melt off in the heat

*Travel friendly packaging

Cons: -

* Expensive at rs 595 for 50 gms only

* Layering gives a cakey look which is ugly

I rate this Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Collagenshield Sunblock SPF 90/PA+++ 4.5 out of 5. Right now I am using it and loving it. Dry skin and very fair skin girls check it before buying. A true skin innovation from Lotus Herbals, and also this time they have left out the Parabens which is a big thumps up. A good sunscreen from Lotus Herbals but definitely very pricey for most Indians.

Hope you enjoyed this review, please do share your experiences with us about this sunscreen or any other sunscreen you are using right now. Thank you and do have a rocking time.

I am using the SPF 70 one and it's really good too. Added, somehow, it makes my blemishes less visible.

I feel overall, Lotus makes really good sunscreens for every skin type
